Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have bought an estate on the outskirts of New York for £3.6 million.

The Hollywood couple invested in a Thirties manor, covering 11,653sq ft.

There are eight bedrooms, a two-storey panelled library and a terrace overlooking the Hudson River.

If one pool inside is not enough, there’s potential to add one outdoors, where there’s also a guest cottage, tennis courts and a cabana.

Zeta-Jones, born and raised in Swansea, and New Jersey-born Douglas recently sold another New York home for £16.5 million.

Their new, more modestly priced purchase still gives them privacy and easy access to Manhattan.
